Sudip finds Susanta in his side Threatens of aggressive attempts if GBP problem persists

Staff Reporter, Agartala, 7 August:: Former health minister and BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman in continuation to his attempts of raising questions on lapses of health infrastructure on Monday threatened to go for an aggressive attempt that he felt the administration was unlikely to bear at this point of time.

Sudip, who placed letters after letters to the Chief Minister and health minister in-charge to look into the lapses and shortcomings arising in GBP hospital related to Covid only recently addressed a Press briefing to express his views and suggestions to battle the Covid pandemic.

On Monday, he paid a visit to GBP hospital that falls in his own constituency and said that if the issues were not resolved within two to three days an aggressive attempts would surely come henceforth.

The most striking point of his sudden visit included the presence of MLA Sushanta Chowdhury who was believed to have been groomed by Barman himself. But, for a time being, Sushanta kept a visible distance from Sudip as some speculations regarding his induction in the cabinet expansion aired in the political sphere. Nevertheless, his presence and the way he backed Barman indicated that he was quite confident of doing that.

After a prolonged discussion with GBP hospital authorities, he said, “The prime reason behind this visit is to ascertain whether any attempts have been taken or not. Unfortunately, the concerned administration had not been seen taking any significant step. I have talked with Subahsis Das, who is among the officials entrusted with Covid duty. He has assured us to do needful steps to resolve the problems. I have also suggested to him some steps personally and told him to take help of information technology to meet the crisis”.

He also alleged that people had lost faith in GBP hospital and there was a common spree of seeking discharge even being sick. He attributed all these lapses on the communication gap and lack of coordination.

“There is a lack of communication and coordination. Bodies are being left unattended, food was often not served to the patients. All these had already shown the reasons. Now we are giving a time of two to three days and if the demands were not addressed, we would definitely go for an aggressive attempt, I am not sure whether the administration would be ready to bear it or not” , Sudip said adding that as the hospital was located in his constituency he could not remain silently all the public pain.

MLA Sushanta Chowdhury, on the other hand, suggested that the authorities should also take care whether any sabotage or backbiting was going on or not. “If Assam can, why we can not? Himanta Biswa Sarma has played an instrumental role in battling Covid and the situation seems under control now. Tripura also has all the potentials. Now as to what we should do is to address the shortcomings as raised by the former health minister”, said Suasanta.
