No fair in Kharchi Puja this year : MLA Ratan Chakraborty

Staff Reporter, Agartala, 18 June : The traditional Kharchi Puja and festival will be organized with very minimal arrangements this year. Unlike every year, there will be no big fair or other crowd catching elements, MLA Ratan Chakraborty who also happens to be the chairman of Kharchi Puja organizing committee said on Thursday.
He said, “The numbers of Covid 19 infected patients are increasing with every passing day. At this situation, we should not organize something which can further help the virus to spread. Thus, we have decided to perform the rituals only”.
According to Chakraborty, every year not less than 15 lakh people visit the temple of 14 deities during the 7-day long festival. People from different North Eastern state come here to participate in the festival which shows cases the integrity of tribal and non-tribal communities of the state.
He also informed that this year no animal sacrifice will be performed, no one will be able to offer flowers and all, the health protocols would be given biggest priority.
